Benefits of cover crops:

  • All three components are palatable perennial grasses possessing good digestive traits and can be well utilised as standing hay.
  • The species complement each other. Rhodes and small buffalo grass establish quicker and suppress weed emergence. This affords the Smutsfinger component a weed-free basis on which to establish over time.
  • The mixture is suitable for most soil types.
  • The mixture is managed according to normal Smutsfinger management practices.
  • The mixture combines well with legumes such as sweet white clover.
